PRYDE VS TARKIN! TIN PIN TARKIN STILL STANDING AS PRYDE JOINS THE SAGA!

OF ALL the items in the PCAS collection, this is something I have a real soft spot for 🙂 It's a Peter Cushing Tarkin Pin / Badge! It was given to me by Gladys Fletcher, who started PCAS back in the 1950's. Seems it was given to her by a fan back in 1977, and she passed it on in 1978. I love the font and considering how old it is now, it's aged rather well. I don't collect pins and I have only worn it to a convention back in 1980. It's lived in a little box for safe keeping since then. There are now many pins, badges, fridge magnets and all sorts depicting Peter as 'the most evil man in the universe!' but as I have never seen this pin anywhere else, it's pretty special . . Over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE we've invited everyone to share images of any special or vintage Cushing, Tarkin or Star Wars pins, and the results are quite interesting!

THERE HAS BEEN AN ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY, of what is seen by some fans as an interesting addition to the army of #STARWARS characters of actor! British actor #RICHARDEGRANT is playing #GeneralPryde, a villain of similar #TARKIN proportions in #THERISEOFSKYWALKER, released this December, is most exciting! I wonder if we will be sharing vintage tin pins of Grant's Thrawn in 40 odd years time??? I do  hope, Grant is my top five favourite actors. We wait, with much anticipation and I don't think, we 'Over Estimate His Chances!' 😉😊😀

WAS CHRISTOPHER LEE APPROACHED TO PLAY GRAND MOFF TARKIN IN 'STAR WARS : A NEW HOPE' ?

A DRIBBLE across the net and on several STAR WARS forums, is the fact or fiction that Christopher Lee was approached to play, Grand Moff Tarkin is the firs Star Wars movie. According to 'the source', 'Christopher Lee suggested Peter Cushing....!' Personally? I have no idea. Posting this story onto the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE has prompted a mixed reaction today. What do you think?

Answer this question, keep your answer SAFE, because come Saturday, you'll be asked to send ALL five of your answers to us at PCAS by using the FACEBOOK Message / Contact Button or by EMAIL at our website. THE PRIZE, as you probably know by now, is a rare and collectable colour autographed frame photograph of Christopher Lee from 'Dracula AD 1972'. It's in mint condition, one of two that I personally own. The framed photograph was donated by Hammer Art back in 2011. It was signed in 2012, along with another exact version of what was being signed. Today is the day, I am giving one away as a prize😮😀 The frame with the photograph is 20 x 14.5″ in size, printed on Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper 315gsm and was one of ONLY TEN in a limited edition. Have fun with this and GOOD LUCK Everyone! 😊 - Marcus

#FEMMEFATLE FRIDAY: Meanwhile out on the mooooor! Here's quite rare and very intresting behind the scenes snap of director Terence Fisher working with Christopher Lee and Marla Landi, during the making of Hammer films, one and only Sherlock Holmes film,'The Hound Of The Baskervilles' (1959) Landi certainly sizzled in her role of the very handsey but highly deceptive, Cecile. She also appeared with Lee in Hammer's 'Pirates Of Blood River' (1962). Quite a fiery and passionate personality off stage and camera Landi was allegally was quite attracted to Lee. Which frightened Lee more than any Hell Hound! Landi landed the role in Baskervilles, after Peter Cushing saw her in a theatre production, and suugested her for the role. She auditioned and nailed it! 😊

THE 1958 HAMMER DRACULA, Phantom of the Opera, Dr Terrors House of Horrors and..KONGA! Today marks the birthday of Michael Gough! Gough had quite an interesting film career, some hits and some misses, but all entertaining. Two films which starred Peter Cushing and packed career on stage and screen. Do YOU have a favourite Michael Gough film? Happy Birthday Michael Gough, you are remembered!

FREE HAMMER CONTACT SHEETS : BATES AND LEE TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA AND A BIRTHDAY!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! It's a great shame, that Ralph Bates lost his opportunity to play DRACULA. How do you think he would have played it??? #dracula #casting #hammerfilms #pulltheplug #vampires

FREE CONTACT SHEETS FROM HAMMER FILMS : HAMMER FILMS TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA : FEATURING LINDA HAYDEN, ANTHONY HIGGINS  . . . .

'I’VE SEEN THE LIKES TONIGHT that mortal eyes shouldn’t look at!’… say that line of dialogue and any Hammer film fan worth his or her salt, quick as a flash will reply, ‘Michael Ripper, as the poacher in 'The Mummy!’.. And it is Michael Ripper who we remember today on the day his birth, 27th January 1913. Ripper appeared in many productions for Hammer, seven with Peter Cushing, nine with Christopher Lee.  . . .

INN KEEPERS, coachmen, police officers, Ripper an accomplished stage and film actor it could be argued is as much part of the Hammer family as Cushing, Lee, Fisher and Francis. Christopher Lee once announced to a packed convention in Baltimore, with Ripper standing at his side.. 'This man IS Hammer!’ And for many of us, he always will be . . .

IF SOMETHING INTERESTING comes my way, I love to be able to share with you! Such is the case of this rarely seen candid photograph of Christopher Lee and Michael Ripper at a signing. The little I have leaned about this occasion, has come from the owner of this photograph, James Murray.

JAMES WAS WORKING 'on the door' this day at a book shop in London and remembers it well. It was a book signing, attended by Christopher Lee, signing copies of his book, 'Tall, Dark and Gruesome' the Midnight Marquee edition. Being an admirer of Christopher Lee, he brought along his camera and posed for a pic...and managed to capture Michael too! . . .MORE ON THIS STORY: HERE!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: HOW COOL IS THAT??

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY! ANOTHER PCAS FB MILESTONE 🙂 . . .. Less than a month ago, we were marking our last #facebook #milestone..now here we are, and you've done it again!

AS EVER, I want to thank you for making your #PeterCushing #facebook page such a success. It does prove that every comment, like and share, DOES make all difference. It's very good to hear and see Peter Cushing mentioned almost every day in mainstream media, on tv, print media and the net. Let's all continue to do our bit, and keep him there 😉 Someone asked me on the weekend, do you ever run dry on things to post, to write? When I first thought about the possibility of bringing #PCAS to Facebook and a website domain back in 2010, it did cross my mind, that 'running dry' maybe a possibility . . . well, I am still waiting... 🙂 Again, MANY thanks. Onwards . . .. ! - Marcus

WE ARE ALWAYS #HAPPY to see you and hear from you, you are ALWAYS #WELCOME . ..  wherever you are!

#CHRISTOPHER LEE: THE DEVIL AND PERFECT ROLES

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY!: A short interview with Christopher Lee on the set of the last film he appeared in for Hammer films, 'The Resident' in 2011. This clip was shot by CNN, during a visit to the set, wasn't used during the initial broadcast, probably because of the 'slightly off mic' sound.

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAYS! Here is a clip from the 1973 television pilot 'Poor Devil 'starring Sammy Davis Jr. as a down-on-his-luck demon with the Devil (Christopher Lee). Sadly the show was not picked up for a whole tv series. Jack Klugman and the late Adam West also co-starred in the feature-length pilot. How do you think this series would have worked, if it HAD been picked up??

#MONSTERMONDAY: THE BLOODY COUNT IN THE CHATEAU WITH GIFS!

#MONSTERMONDAY: Requested By Tel Morrison, UK. David Peel as Baron Meinster... he comes in for a lot of stick, but I think he did very well. Peel really is acting his 'socks-off' here! A very gentle man, older that his casting, was met by his appearance on screen, with cries of 'But...he's NOT Dracula' and 'It Says DRACULA on the poster outside!!' Soul destroying, I would think. He wore lifts because his height was deemed not tall enough for the role (Tell me about it!) and a page boy blonde wig.... to give that look of innocence. All the more frightening, when he changes into the raging vampire beast, that the BARON really was.... I think he did a great job....
